Andinoacara Stalsbergi. Info please?

It always seems like venting is the only way to know 100% for sure with Saums/Stalsbergi.

Typically, you'll have a decent success rate by looking at body shape/color/fins after the 4-5" mark, though. But there are exceptions.

Well I think I have it down to a T regarding saums, without venting. So hopefully as these guys grow they will develop some noticable traits. I am looking to get a pair and spread the 'True Green Terror' about my area a little.

As regards the adult size and sexually mature size? Is it safe to say a male will reach around the 8" mark, and females 5" l as this seems to be the general census from what I have read. Also, would you say sexually mature around the 3"+ mark? As thats the size my saums bred at, so I figured it'd be pretty similar. I know I am a long way off breeding them yet but I'd like to know for future reference.

A little bump for anyone else out there with some A. Stalsbergi? Share some info on an uncommon aquarium species?

Anyone? What size do these guys develop their colours? Safe to say at the 3-4" range?

I think its aroub 9-10" for males and 7-8" for females, I picked up a pair of wilds A. stalsbergi yesterday and they are around 5-7" in length.

Here's my Stalsbergi. Nice fish, showed some aggression towards my Managuense at first. But the Managuense show him who's boss. Now all is peaceful.

Nice, what tank do you keep it in? Tankmates?

Yeah from Rare, I went up to the 'meet' yesterday, also picked up a new flagtail prochildus and red wolf, although the wolf escaped his tank over night and I found him dead this morning on the fish house floor :(

I havent put anything on youttube yet, but you can see a video of them on my FB page: http://www.facebook.com/JamesStuddartFishAccount/

What we believe to be the male is hiding behind the mopani wood and the female is out and about, but doesnt like the phone near the tank lol

Thanks, is this an international publication? I wrote a short article for North Wales Aquarists Society on the differences between the three common species, as I was fed up of being told my Orange Saums were green terrors lol

if it is international, any idea where I can get it, or it is available online?

I feel as though I should point out that this thread is fairly old. My Stals are now 4-6"+ and I have a large male with three spawning females. One of which currently has an extremely large batch of fry (even larger because she stole one of the other females fry). So I kinda just went with it and learnt on the way.

Studz, I question if both of yours are males? Just my opinion. Though venting seems to be the most reliable method of sexing.

Search google for: cichlid news green terrors. Should come up.
