Nice, what tank do you keep it in? Tankmates?

He's in a 400litre, with an Oscar, Managuense, Loisellei, Red Devil, flag tail Prochilodus, Argenteus, Saxatillis Pike Cichlid.
Looking for a Dovii and Female Festae then it's on to a bigger tank with the new house.

Hi Grant,

What are the vents when venting them, is it similar to mbuna venting? I did vent them when I got them and they did appear to have different vents.

Do you post out fry? as I would be interested in taking some from you, I could even be persuaded to even make to long trip up to you, as you're only in cumbria :)

also I did the search and I have read that article before.

Just thought I would add some background to my Andinocara species experience :)

I have spawned the following two species:

- A. aequinoctialis (had about 2,000 of these last year took a long while to move them all on, lol)
- A. latifrons (wild)

With both species, when I left them with the fry, the female killed them male :( so I wont be leaving the A. stalsbergi with the fry I will be rearing them myself.

I still have around 20 F1 A. latifrons left, I have a group of 10 I am growing on to get pairs out for myself, and the rest are being sold.

I did very well with sexing the Orange Saum just by looking at them and had many customers come back and tell me they had spawned the pairs they bought from me.

There are distinctive difference in finage in the two fish I have, but I know this isnt always a good indicator as I did get a very male looking female from my orange saums, and she was a devilish fish killed a lot of her siblings. And the difference in my A. latifrons were few and far between.

these were my wild pair of latifrons:

males = o0
females = 00

I don't post fry out, no. I have only really raised a few fry and they have gone to friends. But if I know that someones interested I may look into it.

What other fish are you keeping? We could do some swaps!

I started out with Gold Saums and Blue Acaras (not together!). Moved to these guys and never regretted it. I just don't have enough tank space for all species!

Nice lat's.

Thanks, I will PM you :)

I keep mine in a 400L tank, it's around 6-7 inches now. I keep it with a Manguense, Loisellei, Dovii, Saxatillis, Oscar, Red Devil, Prochilodus & Argentea, oh and a big fat Clown Loach!
I'm looking to go 600L as I've just bought my first house, I'll hopefully be adding an Umbee and Festae also. Some serious filtration with UV Sterilisation and LED lighting also. I can't wait!
