they push out the updates pretty randomly, spread out over a few days. just root and get it over with. ive been on 2.2 for months, and im ready to go on the next version, whenever that is :D

I'm just so hesitant to root! I've heard nothing but good about it but I dunno!

it's sooooooo easy! this phone is pretty much un-brickable!

I had my g1 rooted, but since I switched to the Evo, I can't find any reason why I should root my phone. The only reason I rooted my g1, was to overclock the processor, do RAM hacks, and use a2sd. There's no reason to do this on the new model phones coming out. Plus, I heard there are some serious security issues when rooting. It also takes months usually to get a fully stable custom Rom.

You can check for the update manually. I just checked, and its available. Updating now :)

I've been running my Droid Rooted since I got it back in november, and I will never go back to stock OTA update. There is just so much more you can do to your phone once it is rooted. Best place to go for up to date info for the droid is Droidforums.net.

2.2 Froyo has been out for a while.
I've had 2.2 on my N1 since May.

But I heard the EVO is getting the update now. You all will love it!

Nope. One of the Mods on androidforums.com found the google code on the website, tested it on a few phones then posted the code as a .zip. It's the official OTA code but without the hassle of waiting haha.
