Hello,
So heres the dealio, i have a breading pair of Angel fish, and i did not go out and buy a breeding pair, i have raided 2 from a rather small size recently i found out they were a breading pair because along my bamboo there were about 150 or so eggs, and my angel fish were fertilizing them. Problem being i had to go out for just over a day, when i returned they had eaten all of their eggs. I would just like to know what would be the best course of action i could take next time they lay eggs? i have a breading thing i pick up for the fry or to bread guppies in. Just hoping to get some baby angels.

P.S. i know some of you don't consider angels monsters, but they can be vicious when provided guppies to munch on

Angel Fry can be raised with the Parents, though it may take several times before the parents do not eat the eggs, wigglers or fry. They should be in a tank without any other life for best results.

A simple 20 gallon tank without gravel or ornaments, a sponge filter, and a piece of slate stone or clay pot in vertical orientation works well. If eggs are prone to fungus, Methylene Blue can be added in appropriate doses- though after some practice the parents will figure out they have to pick out the fungus ridden eggs.

You must also have food on hand for the fry. Infusoria or baby daphnia can be used shortly after the free swimmers yolk sacks are depleted. Then day old live brine can be added into the mix. Feeding is required several times per day, if not constanly available in very limited quantities.

make sure they are a FEMALE & MALE some times angelfish will form a FALSE PAIR . both being females.

ok so nothing new has happened they still stick together but no sign of new eggs, is there anything i can do to make it more likely to lay the eggs ? and how do i know the difference between male and female, so far all the sites are too vague

best thing to do is be patient, it took mine 2 or 3 times depending on the pair before they would actually raise the babies, and yes put them in a tank by themselves with maybe a few dither fish but not necessary.

the next time they breed watch carefully , after the female lay her eggs, DO THE MALE fertilize the eggs ? do you see tubes coming out of the male? both fish should have tubes showing when breeding. they have videos on you tube.

they are really cute! and i do recall one to have a tube and fertilizing the eggs, i am unsure if the other had a tube, i am excited i can't wait for them to lay eggs again especially if they do not eat them this time!
