Angel Fish Breading? advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
females usally drop a tube when they are ready to breed and males usally well fertilize the eggs. If you really want them to spawn feed them 3 times a day for a week then do a large water change like 40% they will breed within 3 days.

Hey everyone, thanks for the info. I had a pair of angels lovingly raise their eggs to wiggler stage...then one day the babies dissappeared. The next time they laid eggs they dissappeared in only a couple of days. I'm going to place the parents in their own tank and hope the results are more favorable.

Hey they laid eggs again!! ok so this time i removed the bamboo that they were on (after being fertilized of course), any info on keeping them alive in a separate tank??? i had to remove them because if i left them in the tank one of the fish in the tank would for sure eat them, plecos...., secondly i am leaving for cuba tomorrow! so i can't afford to just leave them, so i need some advice i am letting my good friend take care of my fish so i need to let him know what to expect !!!! :)

...The gar leaves them alone?

Anyway, you would have to either remove the pair to its own tank, or remove the eggs to a hatching tank in order to get fry.
Any other angelfish besides the pair will see the eggs/fry as food.

Yeah surprising eh, the angles actually pick on him sometimes
But i did move them to a hatching tank, what does that in tale though, as in what do i have to do to ensure survival in the hatching tank?

Try to get a side picture of your angels so we can notify if you have a male or female here is a pic of mine, they arent a proven pair yet. PM me if any questions I have done ALOT of research on these guys, I really want a pair too!

First time spawners will usually eat their eggs. Don't worry though. They will lay another batch soon after that. It takes a few trials before they eventually understand they are supposed to take care of their eggs. If you want to try firsthand hatching the eggs yourself, dose heavily with methylene blue to avoid fungal growths developing on the eggs. Do make sure your angels are a bonafide pair. Females can pair up together resulting in batches of infertile eggs instead. Prepare the fry food while you're ahead and feed when they are free swimming.

Put a piece of slate in there, remove it to a 2 gallon w/airstone when it has fertilized eggs on it. Always works best for me.
