Alright this is for the tank in my signature. The Red Heads are 2-2.5" and the Sev is right around 3". The only other future stock plans is to increase the school of lemon tetras and then get a BGK - I might...might look into getting a gold Sev but would have to find one the right size.

Alright with that in mind how many Angels could I add to this tank? And with the above size listed of the other cichlids above, what size should I look into getting?

I had bad luck with angels and sevs. Sevs just tore them up. If you try it, get the largest angels you can find - mine was jumbo sized and didn't last 45 minutes before I had to yank him. They just don't have enough mass to hang with sevs. I imagine too that when your geos get to maturity and pair off, the angels will take a beating.

I have red-heads, severums and angels together with no issues. 8 angels, 7 geos, 2 severums and 2 rays in a 300.

I would keep it conservative on the stocking though, maybe 5.

I have read nothing but good things in regards to stocking Angels and Severums. As far as the Geos they mainly stick to the bottom of the tank where I would imagine Angels are in the upper region.

that's pretty much right... almost no interaction between the geos and angels since they swim at different levels. I think the combo of all three works just fine, but like I said if you keep if light they can each have their own territory.

As for type, my LFS had wild scalare which are nice. hardier than the altums but still with nice patterns.

I tried it in a 75gal and failed miserably. The larger tank sizes you two are working with could make the difference. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

+2 on the wild scalare. IMO they look way better than domestics - all the color varieties now just look so unnatural. I got my wilds from Rapps - he gets in XL peruvian scalare from time to time.

If you look on Aquabid, Snookn21 has some XL wild caught angels from Guyana that look good. Good price for large wilds too - 4 for $100.

I'm just afraid that if I get large Angels that they might pick on the other cichlids that are all between 2-3" right now. Been looking at Aquabid and for size they refer to coins...what about quarter size, does that sound about right for a size in regards to the others in the tank?

The coin size refers to just the body of the fish and not the fins. I would want to try a little bigger, but I might just be paranoid about the entire combo to begin with. I'll let someone that had success with the pairing answer that part.
