Hello,

I am new here, and I thought I would ask if anyone esle has ever bred angelfish? I bred angels for about 3 years, I had over 10 thousand at one time. I was supplying the LFS's around Indiana, and sold all of them. Then started working at PetSmart, and didn't have much time to care for them so I had to stop breeding them.

Glad to be apart of this great site.

Welcome to the site... Enjoy and have fun looking around. I used to breed Angels pretty extensively, but now have backed down. I still have a breeding pair, but don't take the batches and seperate them, and there is a big pleco in the tank with them that eats the eggs the day they are laid. I have hatched probably about 65 batches, but have gotten out of angels due to a low demand in my area. Now looking into Silver arowanas as my next fun task, Keeping, not breeding, well maybe breeding, we'll see.

from what i hear it almost impossible to breed aros in captivity without a monster sized tank catered to their exact needs.

Yea at one time I had 22 pair of angels, I really focused on blacks and smokes. I started developing my own color stain, but the male that had the trait died. Then I just got mad and said screew it. :swear: :grinyes:

Yea, I haven't herd much about breeding aros in anything smaller than a pond...

welcome billy:) glad to see you made it:thumbsup:

I did not raise the young but would raise and condition small ones until they grew and paired up after the first or second spawning I would sell them.
By the way, welcome to MFK.

Hey thanks guys! I told you I would try to make it here, "jeans boy".

Is there anyone else here that has even had them?

Dont be suprised if there arent a lot of angel keepers here.....MONSTER fish keepers ya know;) although we keep and like everything, we are focused to BIG boys....I was trying to convert you to that:)

Im glad you made it though bro

I currently have 10 pairs of Blacks, HalfBlacks, Kois, Zebras, etc.

Just downsized to accomodate Aros, P. Bass, and Wild (Discus, Altums, and Cardinals) to my projects..

Sweet, have you had any problems with your baby blacks and finding something small enough for them to eat? I always fed baby brine, but even s/f bay shrimp can be kinda big for the blacks.
