Angelfish Spawn!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The babys have grown so much! Its a lot of work doing 2 water changes a day and feeding 3 times, but worth it. I'm still looking for the 20gal, but have a few ideas.

The pair that I put into the 20gal have had eggs. They had them last Thursday. They hatched on saturday. The parents have moved them to new locations in the tank every day! Good parents I think?

It's impossible to take pictures of the fry.

The dark mass in the last pic is all of the wigglers, born on November 18th. The parents have moved them to the other corner of the tank as of this morning.

Amazing!
Congrats on the start of a new Breeding Farm in Seattle!
Great Job!
The way you are going you will need more room.

Oh yes, I plan on getting a 20gal. Moving the babys into that. Then moving them into a 55 until they go to the Fish Store. That way I will have the bar minimum and can expand from there (As long as the parents let me....)

The babies that are in with the parents are starting to swim around today. The mom is frantically going after them trying to put them back in the right place.

wow this is great.. you are a true angel breeder.. you have the knack and the gift and great parents for those babies..

Hundreds of free swimming fry this morning. the parents are keeping them in 1 or 2 schools.

My question for you is: should I leave them in with the parents for sudden death because I think that I do not have enough tank space only haveing a 10 gallon?

Or should I move the babies out from the parents and put them in with the other babies?

I'm ok doing both...

If you really want the fry to live, then seperating the fry to another tank would be a good choice. But it's your call, if you leave the fry with the parents it's just a matter of whether you have a good, responsible, and caring pair that won't eat your fry. And from the looks of it, you've got a very good pair. If I were you I'd buy another 10 gallon and a sponge filter or two. That shouldn't cost more than 20$, but only if you want to raise all of your angel fry to a resonable size to eventually sell them to your lfs for a little store credit. That's just IMO.

yep =) If it was me i would move them to a different tank. My only concern would be weather or not the other babies are big enough to eat the smaller babies ?? I wouldn't leave them in my tank, because my Angels are like piranhas
