WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! That's huge!!!!! I've always been amazed with how old sturgeon can get, and their shear size! I'm very happy they released it. I would be more than happy to just get a glimpse of that monster swimming past me.
I think the oldest fish who's age can actually be verified is an australian lungfish that's been kept in the Chicago aquarium since 1933. He arrived at the aquarium as a mature adult so they're not sure how old he actually is but they know he's at least 80. I had a lungfish that was at least 11 years old but he was too big for my tank so I found him a better home.
Wow that is an awesome sturgeon, I've heard of them being caught that size here in Idaho in fact my uncle caught a nine footer. Plus there is a picture in Asotin, Washington (across the river from me) that shows a team of mules getting dragged back into the water by a sturgeon
