Alright, this is my first time building anything out of wood... I hope this will hold up my 150 gallon tank. What do you all think? Been doing a lot of research and reading, hope it all paid off. Took me more than 4 hours to do this, did it slow and carefully. More than 100 screws. Lol. Went to the store 3 times cause I kept on running out of stuff (2x4, screws, etc). hahaha

Enjoy!

That's the 55 inside the stand for the sump to show how big the tank is, not that big right?? :nilly::nilly:

P.S. I hope my stand can withstand a nuclear blast, or at least an A-bomb.

Nice start,

Your research did pay off, better too strong than the alternative.

What are you sheeting it with?

Looks great! Just make sure the top of the stand where the aquarium will sit is perfectly flat.

Looking good!

Yes, I made sure it's definitely flat and level. Will put 3/4 inch Plywood on top. Then wrap birch plywood around it, with some fancy trimming (haven't bought) and then stain it with Cabernet Wood stain.

As for the tank, I am glad it is holding water, and hope that it will hold water well for at least another 4-5 years, haahhaha, then I want to get a much bigger tank than this. This was the tank that I just resealed and had it sit for 4 days after resealing, last night was the water test, so far so good! Everyone said at least 48 hours, I just wanted to be extra careful :) and waited the extra days . More shopping tomorrow morning, and will read some more about trimmings and staining, any helpful hints on those?

Thanks, will put more pictures as I go through the process of getting it done. Wish me luck!

Yep. Your stand is overkill for a 150 but will hold it for a long time with no issues. especially with a good top deck on it. Perimeter support is all thats needed really but having a full support takes a huge load off the bottom glass.

Just make sure the bottom of the glass and the top of the stand are VERY clean. A little pebble or screw head poking out could make a mess in a hurry. Better yet is using a piece of foam under the tank. like 1/2" or less pink board.

Thanks!

I will definitely put foam between the tank and the stand. I am planning that the trim will cover the foam to make it look extra nice. :)

If the 150 in the pic is going on this stand, there is no need for a plywood top or a piece of foam. It will be find just as pictured.

Is that because I have enough support and that it is level? I am afraid it might bend or not. If I don't need to use plywood on top of that stand, I will use that plywood to make my canopy.
