Looks good. The grain is showing on the doors nicely. Which stain are you using?

P.S. My staining tip post got edited. I assume by Pharaoh. Sorry, no harm intended.

Great job on the staining. I like the color. I might do a color similar to that on my basement. The rest of the furniture in the house is stained black. I'm OCD, so it has to match.

Thanks. The stain is called Cabernet ( http://www.discountpaint.net/store/images/var257.jpg) . I actually used two types of wood to bring out the door and have a differently look on the stand. The plywood is Birch Hardwood, the doors and trims are Oak Wood. I planned not to have a very uniform look, but something that will stand out and look nicely. I hope everything will look nice afterwards. Here's a picture of it temporarily placed on. Also with a few coats of Ployurethane, I think it will bring the stand out more with its shininess.

It's my first time staining, so yeah, not that great looking. loll

Looks great. Stain is low tech. As long as its rubbed on evenly and wiped down evenly. You'll get a good finish. The wood can only soak up so much so it provides a saftey factor of over doing it.

I am thinking of using White Sand for my tank. Does anyone know of any disadvantages to this than any other type of substrate? I'm not planting anything, just sand as the base.

I just think the white color will bring out the tank with appropriate lighting.

I'm looking at doing white sand myself. I think pool filter sand if you can find white will work best. Or play sand from lowes or home depot. Thats what I'm gonna try.

The main issues are if it's really fine it gets sucked up in the filters a lot. Or if you have soft bellied bottom dwellers it might be sharp as some of it is crushed so it's kinda gritty.

Got all the trims installed. My first coat of Polyurethane applied (hence the shininess), planning on giving it at least 2-3 coats of it. It's looking better and better. I would apply more, but I'm getting rather lightheaded...from the spray paint, stain, and polyurethane. Let's do it tomorrow instead!

Also, for my Sump, I bought a lot of those plastic dish scrubbers for BB to adhere to, however, Dollar General ran out. In addition, I also bought those shower scrubbies, should be fine right? Same concept. What do you think?

I think someone else has used these before. I think the only difference is that they have more of a tendency to collect debris.
