State of chaos
Has anyone else noticed that ALL of Animal Planet's shows are about dogs, cats, or people getting killed graphically by their exotic pets?
Oh wait... of course they have.

I'm watching "Dangerously Devoted" right now. I just saw a fictional senario of a guy with a wife and a baby, and he had a Redtail Boa, and it got out and he found it under the fridge. Then they showed the Boa eating a frozen rat, yet they played a sound effect of a strangled scream.

Remember when Animal Planet showed Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin? And actually sought to educate and inspire the next generations of great conservationists, instead of shock TV about irresposible exotic animal keepers getting mauled and reality shows?

Thoughts?

Oh! Oh!! Now they are showing an old cowboy who has Iguanas, dogs, Alligators, and an Oppossum crying about how his kids hate him because of his animals, and a crazy blonde chick with 200+ dogs who walks around with a shotgun!! And they just said how she's getting evicted because her dogs dominate all her money and all her dogs are getting euthanized.

Isn't the new Animal Planet great?? :)

If I wanted this kind of show, I'd flip over to TruTV :headshake

They're catering to the general public, and sadly the general public seems to get more ignorant every day. People are more interested in violence or exaggerated facts than the truth, for whatever reason. Anyone who still finds wildlife and nature exciting is unfortunately a dying breed nowadays.

All I can say were those guys were and are amazing

I remember watching some of that on the Disney channel

I grew up watching Steve wrestle cros and alligators.

But I got really turned off by animal planet, all their shows are basically the same.

Can't stand Monsters Inside Me, or anything else. Seems the educational shows have dwindled substanitally, and its more about scaring you out of keeping exotic pets as the op so kindly pointed out

Just my lil input

people don't wanna see animals
why watch animals in their natural habitat when you can watch them killing people?

They need to cater to their demographic, which is Americans, and we're stupid. I see the future of our planet being a mix between the movies Wall-E and Idiocracy.

I have noticed this. What happened to animal planet teaching people to respect dangerous animals? The network seems to be happier telling people about how awful and dangerous they are.
