Definitely a ruby throated, unfortunately its the only type we get east of the Mississippi(possibly east of the Rockies, I can't recall). There are some amazing looking ones out west.

Nice! SUch difficult birds to photograph. I saw some crazy looking ones in Mexico two years ago, but they were too fast for the camera.

A hummingbird,didn't know that they lived in the northeast?....Liz do you have any hawks or other raptors in your area to photograph?

yes we actually get a few kinds of hummingbird near me in NH. BUt the only one that is supposed to be here is the ruby throated. There are tons of raptors man... from perrigen falcons, to bald eagles, to many kinds of big and small owls. Osprey, red tailed haws, broad shouldered, among many many more..

yes lots of them.. next after i finish the hummers i plan on photo shooting white swans on the bay near me..... then i may go looking through the woods for the hawks and other raptors...

swans huh?? I know a place that always has a huge pair, pretty soon i should see them with the babies..

liz u get scarlet tanagers, bluebirds, grosebeaks, indigo buntings, orioles, and all those songbirds too??

how about blue and green herons, and the great and snowy egrets??
