You guys have some neat natives in Iowa, too, huh?

pretty sure it has ESC or the white bumps it causes anyway

i only payed 5 bucks for it

keep? or take it back?
Keep it for now. If you move it again it may well die of stress. Try keeping that water super pristine for awhile. Make sure your pH isn't swinging, either. I used to buy medication to fight bacterial infections and such. Truth is, a well-fed fish in pristine water can beat it on its own most of the time. Not always, but more often than the industry would have you believe.

Once you get him back to health and fattened up he should be okay to sell or move on. But let him get strong first.

alright il keep him

if it dies it wont be cause of me haha all my other fish are fattys

I'd take it back if I were you. I assume that since you were under the impression that it was a mystus cat, you're probably not prepared to house a 36"+ monster? If I'm correct in that assumption, then it probably won't be worth the trouble unless you are really dedicated to keeping it, but if you can house it, then go ahead and keep it.

If you suspect Enteric Septicemia be on the look out for hemorrhaging, disorentation, and eventually a hole in the head. This effects the fish's mental function. However, the dose is the poison. As others have stated, a fish that is not stressed may be able to overcome this infection if it has not progressed to far already. This is the true "hole in the head" disease.

its acting great its eatting and and its swimming alright

and should i be worried about it getting my other fish sick?

No, but it would be beneficial to separate it from the other fish, if you can, until it is healed, that way you can keep the water pristine more easily. And imo, keeping the water clean is more important than avoiding the stress of moving it.

its in a 55 and i do a water change every week/week and a half

im not worried about the water lol

and this is better pic of th cat fish and you can see the white spots i was talking about they kinda look like little pimples(cellphone ppic)
