unfortunately, as a culture, or a race. When a race or culture does not learn to manage its environment, conserve animals, especially animals such as this! so rare! it really tells you of the primitive likeness of their race or culture towards apes more than human that can think with a neo cortex.
like these people, indonesian, africans, south east asians and chinese people. are very primitive in that regard. not yet reached a maturity.

I dont think its culture i see it more as individuals. I know asians and african culture's kill exotic species for food or other reasons. But Its not just their fault the animals became indanged. The other countys that buy the products are also a cause just look at elephants as soon as countries stopped buying ivory the comeback they have made.

im from new zealand. the maoris , natives here destroyed and ate all the moas, they are the largest land bird discovered so far thats not millions of years old. they had a taste for its eggs! so they ate eggs not the birds - they didnt put two and two together, eating eggs means no adults.... means no eggs....
at least the japanese try to catch adult whales.. leave the babies for next season.

Cultures who have gone beyond gathering food just to survive day to day, cultures and races that have understood, tommorow can be taken care of today. cultures that have realised that life has art, science and science can be studied, those are the ones im talking about that are more evolved as a culture.

4000 BC, the romans and greek empire understood metallurgy almost as well as we do now. they made things with them today that we cant do better with the same methods. in fact, the trojan helmets used in the war are the same weight and would protect you from the same things as the modern army helmet the USA uses! this is a fact, probalby more! it has cheek protection.

that culture studied, it over came the hunter and gatherer stage..
they forged, cast, melted metal, concrete, sealants, aqueducts. they had zoos and bred animals for food. they understood that the environment needs to be taken care of, though a little different than now cos their numbers were nto as great so extinction was nto such an issue.....thats an advanced culture.
chinese is also advanced - but their desire for economy over comes everything else, its changing now but hey...... they still had metal, gun powder, segmented ships, sails etc...

you go to island nations, you go to most of africa, south america and 'conquered' land everywhree, when discovered, they used stone tools, didnt have government, non organised, hence why they were conquered.
african till today, alot of their population still uses stone age methods!

im sure someone would buy it. new zealand geckos fetch thousands over seas, but the government here doesnt allow it, and clamps down
their government generally doesnt care. so its informally allowed.
suply and demand yes i agree, but if the people cared, they would not do it.
go to africa and ask.... hey, if i paid you 1000 us, would you give me an elephant tusk.... YES will be your ansewr 99%
if you come to New zealand, australia, america, canada, ask them to kill an endangered protected animal for that, most people would say no.....

I agree, The Aztecs and Incas werent overcomed because of disorganizization it was the introduction of foreign desieses and sicknesses. In africa i say its mainly Poverty that drives the people to kill exotic animals for income. Im not trying to be racist or anything but in south africa were it was lead by whites for many years is waay more sucessful than any other african nation. Wonder why?

why is it that just because africans/natives are concerned, its always racism.
here in nz, 80% of the prison population is a non white colour of race. Im not a damn hitler lovin white racist, im yellow!
but its just unfortunate, yet factual that it is a particular race, im sure in america its similar, its sad but true, in asia, all prisoners are asians, cos there are no other races there!
in south africa, it was more succesful when it was led by whites, yes they had a somewhat racist approach, but healthcare for black and white and any other colour was better! roads and tax funded things were better managed. crime was lower.
you look at the congos, look how that turned out after the french left. mozambique, after the foreign rulers left, look what happened.
when you reach a land/nation/country and there is no central government - hence conquered.... or negotiated rule is achieved... that particular culture has not reached a point where it nows how to govern itself.

zinbabwe - huge farms are confiscated, sophisticated equiptment are given to the natives, months later, it looks like jungle except a small patch of garden by the house where they grow veges enough for 2 to 3 days of eating.
...... they know how to run it, they have been working there, but with out guidance, they cant do it.
its different in america, the culture has evolved for african americans.
