You know I have to agree with you. After staining I realized there are no nice wood patterns in the skin. Well its all a learning process. This stand may wind up being painted black now.
Well it's done. Not the fanciest stand, but it'll work and I have learned a lot in the process. One things for sure, I'll never pay for a store bought one.
Good job! Although I agree that the skin lacks a lot of nice grain, it does give it a more modern, sleek look. As you now know, you don't need a ton of tools to build a high quality stand that lasts. I only use a handful to tools for my stands and I have a completely stocked workshop in my basement!
