that is a very tall stanf BTW

You are right, and maybe to tall. I am 6' 2" tall and I want to see my fish at close to eye level. Problem here was that because the stand wasnt very wide it seemed a little unsteady. I was wondering how others have dealt with this problem. What I did was to secure the stand to the wall behind it. Besides its only 55 gals, how much of a mess could that make on my living room carpet?

The stand came out looking really good. Now all you need to do is build a canopy so it looks all clean.

I'd like to seeing how I still have enough of this cheap "skin" left over, but to tell you the truth I honestly havent figured out how to make one yet.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I think with all the knowledge available on this site the average joe (like myself) can easily build a stand. You can make it as "pretty" or "complicated" as you like. Just so happens that with the hours I put in at my job, I really didnt have the time, besides I honestly dont care about all that. I just wanted a sturdy stand that was clean looking enough to put in my living room. In my eyes..................Mission Accomplished.

That a fine idea, I do that with tall book shelves & dressers as well...

I had my (at the time) 3 yr old pull a dresser on to herself & her 1 yr old old sister. Now they're 15 & 13 & I still bolt things to the wall (like the 7 ft tall book shelves in their rooms.)

Glad to see this project finished & set-up & running.

I look forward to seeing the next one, made with your new found confidence & experience. :)
