Another new (old) mod- Koltsixx!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks again guys, I really do appreciate the warm welcome back. It's awesome seeing the old skool and new.

As Harley said I think the best is yet to come. We've got Chicxulub at the helm and he's a hard worker and always looking towards the future. I think MFK will evolve and become better then ever with the support of a great community and staff.

After gold comes diamond, guys. If we all want this, then the best is yet ahead of us.
I agree with this, I’m seeing a good bit of increased activity in the catfish section so that part of the site is doing better and getting more active. If the older and more experienced catfish addicts can guide us younger catfish lovers then that part of the site will thrive. Plus I know I will share all the knowledge I get to other catfish lovers along with others of course.

And of course welcome back kolt, I am glad to see you have returned. Your posts were very informative from what I’ve seen back then and I’m sure they will be great once again.

Another vertebra is back in its rightful place in the Dragon-Fish backbone. It's like the liquid metal terminator pulling itself back together droplet by droplet from the dust... except this one is a really good guy.

Thanks Viktor! It is nice seeing a lot of the older mods making their way back and all the new mods who've been holding it down.

welcome back man!
Thanks Swami! It's good to see you're still here.

Welcome back.
Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Before the Great Server Crash of May 2015.

The forum as basically dead when we got everything fixed mid-June 2015. I started a focused social media campaign, later spearheaded by Gr8KarmaSF Gr8KarmaSF , to get the membership back and active again. It was wildly successful, but many of those who showed up weren't registered members before the Crash.

Now, the forum has roughly the same level of activity as it had pre-Crash, but with more real people online at any given time. While we typically have more real people online at any given time now than we did pre-Crash, each person posts less original content than each person did pre-Crash. Our total member base now is about 125% of what it was in May 2015, meaning we've grown twice as fast after the Crash compared to before.

All of this has resulted in the forum having quite a different feel to it than it did before the Crash. There's some MFKers who long for what was lost in 2015 (hence the golden age comments), but we have to play the cards we're dealt.
I wasn't aware of all the social media stuff. I personally came across MFK in 2016 when I had no idea where to get started with aquariums. As I started discovering more and more advanced species (that I had never seen in pet stores, obviously) I googled images of them. The first few were always MFK photos. One time I accidentally clicked the link to the image and found the forum itself. I was 12 at the time so I waited until COPPA could let me in because my parents put some restrictions or something, so I lurked until I was 13. Kinda forgot about it for a while and then joined as an actual member. Suffice to say I'm a relative newcomer to the forum, and am not a part of old MFK history.

It's just crazy to me that quite a few people have been here for 13-15 years. I've never come across any hobby forum run this well.

Welcome back koltsixx koltsixx

I’m glad to see you are back and restored to position. I love Viktor’s reference of Liquid metal in T2. Now let’s see you running with spike arms. Lol.
