My water pump that is. Been using the waveline 12000 for a little over two years and the power supply crapped out. Specifically using it inline for closed loop circulation.

The replacement power supply is $80 plus shipping, but I think it's a sign to move on, albeit another DC pump.

I know folks using deepwater with longer term succecess. Thinking of biting the bullet with the ecotech L1. I dont need all the capabilities with pulsing, just longer term reliability.

Anyone have alternatives or experience with any of the mention please chime in? Thanks.

Ever look into Laguna pumps? Easily one of my favorite brands for submersible pumps. Energy efficient and cheap.

Thanks JK, Ive heard of them, yes. Not against them, but looking to run out of water / non-submersible for my closed loop system (not return pump).

I love Reeflo pumps...Quiet, energy efficient workhorses. Check out the dart snapper hybrid on Bulk Reef Supply... and compare it to your proposed pump. My old Hammerhead has performed flawlessly for nearly eleven years on our mechanical filtration. The spare replacement pump I bought ten years ago is still in its box. Meanwhile, we are on our third submersible pump in our wet/dry filter. Going all Reeflo pumps on our big tank.

My bad, I totally missed the external part. I agree 100% with P PacuMom I only run Reeflo for external pumps. Laguna's are my go to for internal. I have x5 and love them. Many years of great service. I just bought two new Dart/Snapper hybrid gold models for my 600. I am running closed loop too. Most Reeflo pumps will use less electricity if they are valved back as well as extend the service life of the pump. I like the hybrid models because there are two impellers to choose from. You get a lot of configuration options.

I do have a preference for DC pumps, but I will look into the reeflo. They truly look like they are built like tanks.

Like i said, I'll be doing some more research, but why are they called hybrids

We've got a Reeflo Hammerhead/Barracuda Gold Hybrid running on our 600 gallon FRT tank. It IS built like a tank. I prefer the pumps with the Baldor motor (100% made in USA and 5 year warranty). The Hybrid pumps come with 2 interchangeable impellers, which will give you less or more GPH, depending on which one you install.

No no those motors are made in Canada at least till a few months ago I have done work in the plant personally think they went to Mexico so it's going to go to ****

I was in the same situation and just picked up a 24v 6a power supply off amazon for $18 and it's been almost a year going 24/7. If your decided on a new pump go for it but just my 2c though.
