Hello me.....it's me again.....LOL

So let's say for some crazy reason the salt/pima halts the fungus and the ray appears to be improving.... DO I still medicate with Maracyn/Maracyn 2? Is salt/Pima a cure or temporary fix?

I went and picked up the Maracyn and Maracyn 2 at lunch. A box of each cost me $42. All fine and dandy till I read the back only to find out I use the entire box of M2 the FIRST day. In a nutshell if I don't move the ray to a smaller qt tank this treatment's gonna end up running well over $100.

If see improvement I would not add anymore meds and see what happens for another day or two. I never treat with anything other then salt or mela/pima never used any of these other products.

I won't have pics up till tomorrow.... But the area where the fungus was looks white like it's scarred over and starting to heal. He was rapidly declining, BUT I was NOT anywhere near full dose on salt. I am now up to 2.5 lbs/125 gallons. I first added a lb. Waited 12 hours and added 2 after a 50% wc. Will be up to full strength tonight. There has been very little deterioration since last night (as of noon today) which is a huge improvement as opposed to day by day deterioration I have seen up to this point.

I'm gonna hold off on the other meds till I have full strength salt for at least 24 hours.......

I wish I wouldn't have hesitated and just tossed 2 lbs in on Sunday when I moved him and then another 1.5-2 lbs on Monday.

Any ideas on getting him to eat? I imagine the best tool will be patience?

OK I NEED some meds advice.......
I need to know which of these would be better in my case. I'm leaning towards the one in the first link. Seems my situation is pretty extreme and by reading it sounds more potent.

Next question..... Are ALL of these going to be safe used with Pimafix?

the first one is the only one i know to be ray safe..

The second is recommended by Miles in page 2 of the Stingray meds sticky.

Glad your seeing improvement, it's hard to dump that much salt into a tank and not be worried. Once you do it and realize it helps greatly the next time you won't hesitate about adding large amounts of salt. I normaly use about 2 lbs per 100 gallons and only will use 3 or more if the problem is real bad. Good luck just let him relax, when try to feed if he does not eat remove food within 10 minutes and offer it the next day.

Thank you guys........ I will update tonight.

So I may be right in assuming that this is stress related and may not be a bacterial infection?

I would like to know more about aggression amongst males...... Am I crazy for thinking that 3 males and 3 females will all coexist peacefully in a 8 by 8 pond? Is this too small for the amount of claspers in there? Or is it just a case where I threw a sheep to the wolves by expecting a less than healthy male to coexist with 2 very healthy very active males?

My girl just called..... The ray is now breathing extremely slow...... I don't know if this means he is less stressed now and taking a turn for the better or if he is getting close to taking his last breaths???

I don't know if I need to bail from work and go tend to him............

Ray is dead. I'm sure the big female is next.

sorry to hear..i have been in the same position once..i feel for you:(
