do you have a UV??? be would take care of anything in the water....

You've got to be kidding me. You're telling me all I have to do is get a UV and that cures all my problems? (assuming they are bacterial in nature)

Simple as buying one, installing it, and that's it? No more bacteria? Or is there more to it than that?

No, It wouldnt have been a 100% preventative. Dont get one now, it will effect the meds in a negative way.

you were looking at meds before the ray died and if they were all in the same pond and you think the others are not doing well. that fungus eliminator by jungle that you saw from Dr. smith and foster is probable what i would use. i think you are getting a lot of suggestions and not sure what to do.if you have Dr. Ross fresh water stingrays i like to reread this book when i am running into problems with may rays seems to help me. good luck

How does UV affect the meds? I wouldn't have thought that the light was intense enough to break down the meds at a molecular level. It certainly wouldn't have any effect on the salt.

depends on the meds... there are a few not effected by the uv light.... i would just salt the ppond heavily and do massive waterchanges to clean it up

Some medications are rendered useless when exposed to UV light, especially antibiotics. UV light should beturned off while medicating the tank. Also, remove all carbon.

No meds have been used. I don't have a UV.
If it was gonna fix this I was gonna get one but it seems from reading that the juries still out on them.

Any theories on the spot or is that normal?

i have always used a uv sterilizers on my ray tanks some say not needed i think there work is invisible but worth alot i used to have planaria problems had a few motoros melt away out of no were after haveing them for month after installing a uv planaria stoped and no more melting
