Another sick ray thread........

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
up the salt for a few days as mike said 3 pounds per 100 gallons..... if in a few days problem is not looking better then i would dose with maracyn maracyn2 combo....

Looking through past threads...... In regards to salt.....Frank says 5 grams/ litre. IF my math is right this is around 4.23 Lbs/ 100 gallons. If this is true I'm only at 1/4 dosage.

Waterchanges??? Any recomendations there? Continue with 30% every 12 hours or is this a little much?

Can anyone honestly tell me if the garlic stuff on the food works? I do believe the LFS has some of that for the low introductory price of $20. IF it really works I'm sold......

In regards to Pimafix...... The LFS has a bottle that is for pond use.... treats twice as much for the same price.......is it the same stuff just more concentrated? Or do I just spend the extra $ for the original?

Sorry for all the ?s..... just sittin here at work (slow as our economy) feelin helpless freakin out a bit.

3lbs per 100 will work just fine... use morton koshersalt 3 lb box costs about 2$ at supermarket

continue with water changes and replace salt with each change i would say 50% every other day

ive had luck with it getting fish to eat and in treating discuss i dont see how it would help your ray...

pond version more concentrated and if you have large amounts to treat its perfect if not the stuff gets kunky when it expires....

The garlic..... to get him to eat.... I don't know if he's gonna be around much longer if he doesn't eat.... it's digustingly skinny. With the rapid deterioration I have seen in the last 2 days I don't know how much longer I have. This morning it was loosing slime and the fungus had just about wrapped the disk perimeter. When I moved the ray on Sunday this fungus was barely even noticable. Got progressivly worse just from last night to this morning.

you can try the garlic but i dont think it will help... i would go for black works and red wigglers

Unless anyone knows where to get black worms overnighted the soonest I can get my hands on them would be Thursday (Allready had semi-LFS, an hour away, order them)

wormman.com is who i always used...

Seems like way too much salt. If you feel its Parasites, try parasite guard by Jungle, have 4 meds including Metro & Prozi. The Meli-fix is for more an aid helping recovering tissue/fins, not really a cure.

This thread was posted because I don't know what is wrong. Pima fix I bought to ward off the fungus. I was going to treat for parasites cause its a wild caught ray and thought it was a good precautionary measure. I thought maybe if I posted a pic someone could I.D the problem and recommend a cure.

Well I got home and guess what? Dead ray. The funny part is its not even the sick one. The lil brown rays dead. The marble looks worse than suspected.

Well rays are great animals but I really can't deal with this crap. For the first time ever I feel an out of hobby sale comin on....

dude, so sorry to hear about the brown.......i thought he was gonna be the trooper
