Does anyone know if 3m t-grade sand is okay, I want a black sand and was told that this is not sharp and won't get sucked up when cleaning.

I have always though pool sand is good for rays. Not so fine that it gets sucked into the python and doesnt irritate bellys.
I have been on the phone with numerous pool supply stores over the last two days and they told me that all pool filter sand, even though different brands, has the same make-up. It's 20 grade silica sand- all of it. 100% quartz doesn't mean its not made of silica because quartz is made of silica. So, if so many people on this forum use this sand with no problems, that's the route I'm going because its a really good price, I think it looks the best, and it apparently is ok for rays.
Works great for me so far. Bellys look fine. It sticks to them a little but that is expected. THey can shake it off when they want to.
do youself a fav and use a fine gravel like this

Well, I just love the look of sand. I have had aquariums with gravel my whole life. Stingrays are something different, and I want their aquarium to look different, too. If there was a sand that was a for sure bet, I'd go with that no question on the cost. But, since every sand I come across seems to have a possible negative effect, I will go with the one that most other people use and is the cheapest. I'm not saying anything is wrong with gravel; I have a show aquarium in my living room right now full of gravel, but I love the way a sand stingray tank looks.
id go with estes.......,, ive never had a problem with it and obviously people who have thousand dollar fish in estes sand mean they completely trust it with their rays...
