Ansorgii growth and development thread.

My friend Julian and I have each have ordered 1 WC ansorgii from Toyin. We though it would be cool to document the groth and development on our Ansorgiis as there is not a whole lot of information on them. When ever I do a google search it come up with 11 inch max which is definatley faLse and alot of the pictures that come up are of endli ansorgii hybrids. Julian already has ansorgii from our last order in october when I opted to order a PBB. This thread we hope will help poly keepers get more info on Ansorgii bichirs as well as let other with experience share there vast knowledge. Please if you have experience chime in.

Ansorgiis are pretty much the slowest growing lower jaw species once they hit 11-15". This is the reason why the old literature thought they only max out 11". Many lower jaw species will hit 16-18"+ in a year while ansorgii stay at around 11-12". This is base on my own experience, but also seen some of my friend's ansorgiis that grows to about the same or even slower.

Ansorgii grow soooo slowly!

I mean real slow!

Also if you buy a WC Ansorgii at lets say 12" for example, don't expect to see a huge monster like you see over at sites like big-in etc.
Those have taken years to grow that size in a very large open environment.

If you want a 30" Ansorgii, you need to buy a 30" Ansorgii (IMO).
 
Well just recieved mine and it came in about 15 to 16 inches so I am happy my frineds came in a little fatter with a monster head. I am still at work and will br bringing mine home in a few hours. I am not trying to comepete with other sites, a;though i would love one that big haha, this is for my own personal fun and enjoyment and maybe to bring a little more knowledge to us keepers in the state who cannot get acces to more info in other countries such as asia and what not. I will get more precise measurements once home and transferring the fish. King EL and TGM please share pic if you have any I know you got some nice polys would love to see you Ansorgiis.
 
SO I got him home and acclimated before rushing to my other job. I measure himand he came in at a nice 15 inches. I took a crappy pic of him and will post it. I will try to get better ones on fri or sat when I have my days off. He is already eating like a pig and enjoying the tank. I also measure my Pbb at about 18 inches which made me pretty happy.
