I know ansorgii have only been CB for only a short period of time, but are others experiencing the same outcomes with their CB? Are their genes not strong enough to survive? Interesting

No idea but Squish had an ansorgii died of the same reason. I assumed with super clean water these fish would be ok. I'm done with ansorgii unless I find a crazy deal.:D

oh man sorry to hear :(

sorry i didn't see this earlier. but for what it's worth i agree on bacterial infection (septicemia), and i would use antibiotics and salt to treat. the other stuff, like fungus cure, melafix etc won't really do anything when it comes to septicemia. While melafix/pimafix are marketed as antibacterial, it's really only good as a preventive in case of injury or for very mild infection or at the end of a treatment when the fish is well on its way to recovering and stronger meds like antibiotics is no longer needed.

And personally i don't rely on salt alone for septicemia. Septicemia gets worse very fast if it isn't treated sufficiently.

If it's bacterial infections, then how was it introduced into my tank? Is there a way to compeletely eliminate the bacterial so all my bichirs would stay healthy forever?
bacteria that cause these infection are always present in the water, normally their population is low enough to not cause problems. But when the water params are off (e.g. bioload too high, dirty water etc), the bacteria population could increase and cause infection. And when the fish's immune system is compromised, they can also cause problem.

Thanks for the great clarifications in details. I actually had Tetracycline and Fungus. I opt for fungcus cure because the package labeled septicemia as of the symptons it cures. I have a feeling full dose was too strong for the fish to handle. I have cure endlis with septicemia before with half dose. The problem is that I panicked and ended up over dosing when I didn't really need to. I killed my fish due to medication malpractice!:(

Sorry for your loss buddy.
