Anyhow though-
I ended up going with this advast stuff for right now-
I cleaned up 115 infected files/trojans on my comp----

I can now go about life as usual-

I would respond more on the other posts-but you guys honestly just lost me....

if you found that many infections(btw most of those were probably cookies which are relatively harmless) I recommend to run another scan from another company
I recommend MalwareBytes as others have mentionned it does wonders with infected computers
by running two scans(or more) from different companies you have the greatest chance of catching all the viruses There is no perfect computer cleaner a combination is required on most infections
I would run a full malwarebytes scan just to be sure, you might be surprised with the results

i just tried two of the freebies listed... spy ware ...not anti virus.. and after the scan one said i had 747 threats...but they could only fix 20 and i would have to pay for the rest...little scamming... and the other said i had 3 and buy now to fix at the end.. so both of those are not free... i will try some more.. just curious.. i just remove it after the scan...

cleaning an infected computer can be a really complicated task
if you notice any abnormal behavior by your pc I recommend you scan now
cleaning first starts with a/multiple general cleaners

start with this(free version)

then you can try an online scan such eset one
http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/index.php

if your computer is still badly infected then we move on to analysing with HijackThis
and targeting the infections one by one with specialized programs

i will try this tommorrow..the only problem i have is once in awhile internet explorer wants to close...software problem... but it could be from a spyware b ug... i have always been up to date on anti virus.. but maybe i need added spyware protection too... thanks

Aww man, i would love to know how to port forward I cant get Vuze, google earth and photobucket to work properly for me.....it sux

avg ftw. With a good internet gateway that does internal NAT (turning your internet connections IP address into private IP addresses for your computer/s) is all you need for firewall. Just only open up ports you want (if you don't know what this means, then they're already closed and you're good to go). If you want real peace of mind go get a free IP blocking program.

ok this was happening to me a few weeks ago
when yours want to close is there a box with a scrolling green line that pops up saying internets explorer wants to close but in reality it doesnt actually close and every time that happens you get a popup bubble in the lower-right of the screen saying something about "data execution prevention"? if that is the case i have a fix for you
