I think yourin case, you need to look for feeders that don't cost a lot to maintain. Mealworms and superworms are great ideas since they are easy to maintain, do fine at room temperature and a lot of people use them. I know sometimes I would use the mealworms to feed my backyard variety of robins and bluebirds.

Try looking into European Nightcrawlers and Red Wigglers too. Really easy to maintain and a fair amount of people buy them. I don't think the profit margin would be too great, but at least it is something supporting the income. Take a look at baitshops and "copy" them.

Thanks a bunch.. i will.. just want to have what ever the customer may need.. i know we always use them too.. :D

One thing you have to remember is that when you sell something, that customer no longer needs that item, but now they will need items to go a long with it... feeders, brine shrimp, guppies and ghost shrimp are a must. You will have high volume sales on these items, plus every time tthey stop to get some, they will look around and perhaps buy more... or see something to tell someone else to come buy... If you open a store I will swing by one day and then tell everyone I know about it... and I know a lot of people, and I talk a lot...

the best place to keep feeder goldfish is in some sort of indoor pond set up.

we used to have filtered feeder 'vats' right on the floor that allow large volumes of water for large amounts of feeders.

feeders are typically ordered in larger amounts as suppliers give discount prices for ordering more than say 500 or 1000..so keeping them in tanks is not really feasible.

you have to arrange some sort of a pond/vat set up to do it.

i will have to look into what you mean.. and also notice them more when i go into the LFS.. and then i will see it, thanks again 12 volt..

2 storiessssss upstairs fish downstairs tanks and setups and SELECTION and no dead fish floating around....no rude or snotty staff like a few stores where i live. and knowledgable staff, what people learn at your store will be spread by word of mouth, this guy at a local petland told me hes keeping a TSN in a 25G tank and it should be fine...

its good to have it the other way around:

fish downstairs (to allow for floor drains) and setups up stairs, only problem is hiking everything upstairs - can be very hard with large tanks.

I think you might be better off with only one floor, personally.

i would have only one floor... definitly... :D
