any car tunners out there?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you gotta ask which would be better your not ready to get either. you can't just slap on Forced Induction, gotta have the supporting Mods First, after that the options are endless for Hondas.

It really depends what you want to do with the car, that helps figure out which will be better for your application, figure out your expectations. Turbos normally have a higher HP output, but come with lag and smaller torque curves, superchargers will give a more linear power delivery, but normally do not have as high a power output.

You probably want to get a different engine in honestlyi am assuming a 1990 for 300 bucks either has a ton of miles, or is base model engine, no overhead cams, still with alot of miles.

With Hondas there are alot of engine options available, you need to figure out which one of those you want to go with first. alot of people go with the 1.8 gsr engine as it has more displacement and Vtec with DOHC, some go with hybrid mixes of blocks and heads from different honda and acura vehicles, and still some go with the bigger engines out of the preludes and CRVs. the choices of engines is crazy.

Take what he says to heart, it's true.

You are definitely going to need a different engine and an upgraded suspension if you plan on making some serious power.

Honda tuning is really big over here in the bay area, so I know you could make a quick car without using forced induction. That may be something to think about b/c from the sound of things, you seem to want the turbo or s/c more for show purposes than performance. Like dysfunctional said.. you cant just slap on a turbo or s/c and expect things to run smoothly.. there's a lot of maintenance involved.

dont do **** to your motor if its stock....if you have stock motor im sure you have a d15 or d16....save money...go with a b-series motor then turbo it...dont super charge....find a b18b motor (ls motor) then turbo it....dont work with your motor if its stock its not worth it...and i think your from new jersey so visit www.b20vtec.com to get help

Not sure if I have any new pics of the ghia. I have some dropped spindles I need to put on and an aftermarket sliding sunroof. Just haven't gotten around to putting them in. :(

Nice, an E30. Good thing you got a 325is and not a 325es. That 121 hp 2.7l eta motor is torquey, but can't rev past 5,000 rpm. The 168 hp i motor is much better.

I do like "older" BMWs, but I don't consider an E30 old. I consider everything before the introduction of the 3, 5, 6, 7 series designations to be classic BMWs. In other words, pre 1976 BMWs = classic BMWs. My favorites are the E9 coupes (2800 Cs/3.0 Cs/3.0 Csi) from the early 1970s.

I think a Civic is a poor car to modify, but for different reasons. I think all FWD cars are transportation appliances. As such, Civics are good cars for their intended purpose--transporting people in an efficient and reliable manner. Modifications tend to make them less efficient at that purpose. No matter how much you spend on a Civic, it will still be FWD. 60% of its weight will still be over the front wheels and it will still drive and steer with the same wheels. These are performance limitations that can't be overcome, IMO. Just keep the Civic stock and enjoy it.

LOL... True... Although I consider cars that are around my age or older "classic". But I see your point. Either way I think I scored on the 89. 120k miles, body in damn good condition, motor runs great, and all for 2500. Suspension is shot though. But like I said, project car.

The car is the only thing thats old, the motor is a b-18 v-tec type R and its been totaly rebuilt for AUTO-X, to tell u the truth the only thing thats stock is the valve cover cuz i like red:D i even had the block cryo fozen for safty and strenth. im hoping to hit the 400-500hp mark but im not crazy about a turbo cuz ive heard alot about them straining motors out fast

your saying that you got a honda civic thats completly ready for auto-X with a type R motor for 300 bucks? thats hard to believe. but...

I might be off on this, but I havent heard of any supercharger kits for that engine that have HP ratings that high, so your only option might be a turbo, a pretty big one too, which means horrible power curve, which wouldn'e be that much fun on a road course. If you want your car to be fast in autoX with that car, i would probably leave the engine alone, should have enough power, and just make sure the suspension is setup well.

Are you planning on doing any auto-X racing in it? because 4-500 Hp in a FWD is gonna make it hard to control around fast corners. If you have a good limited slip in the front, you might be able to get away with a smaller turbo or a supercharger for more horsepower, but i wouldn't try for much more than 300hp unless you only want to drag race, high hp fwd cars are not easy to control going straight, but its easier than around corners.

Oh, and a turbo on an engine that is properly tuned for it wont really hurt the engine, its when its non turned properly that they have a tendancy to ruin engines (same thing with any type of forced induction)

here is my money pit. 1991 GMC Syclone. fun little truck but can be testy at times.

Very nice truck there, I've been drooling over the typhoon/syclones since they came out. I would say GM should bring em back but they would screw it up.
