Anybody got any ideas on how to make a DIY kit to suspend your lighting from the ceiling? I've seen some kits but they arent universal and I wanted to make something on my own.

Any ideas?

yeah, a stand alone light suspension kit, not the outlet. ive seen some people use metal conduit from behind the tank but i like the ones that have wires hanging down from the ceiling...

eye hooks or somthing along thouse lines in ceiling and light housings then chains run down to where you want your lights, you would need 4 to be safe 2 on each end spaced so they slant to join on the light fixture and hold your light in the right spot. But the exact measurements would depend on how big the tank, how high off the tank you want and how high the ceiling is. Should be really easy to do.

rather than use ugly chains use something like 500lb rated wire trace looks nicer!

thanks for the input everyone. i ended up making some stands out of 1/2" pvc piping to elevate my light about 7" off the tank. ill post pics when i get it painted....

Ewwwww......... PVC...............
I hung all my lights from eye hooks in the ceiling. The light is suspended via plastic coated cable and brushed aluminum turnbuckles attached to the black lamps. Looks really sharp. Cost me like $7.00 for the whole thing each lamp.

got any pics of the parts used? the pvc is by no means permanent, just a temporary solution till i find the materials i like. where'd you get the cable?

1/2 inch pvc is going to bow bad... the 7" inches you wanted are going to turn into 2" or 3", but anyways, you know the chains they use to hang chandeliers? Those work well and look nice.
