House of tropicals is ok. Kinda over priced but can have ok stuff once in a while, its pretty big.

Greenbelt aquarium in greenbelt mall has a,good selection of chiclids and piranhas

Petland in Fairfax, VA has some fun stuff every now and then (not a huge place though)

Creatures and Critters in Woodbridge, VA also keeps some interesting fish

Pristine Aquariums in Alexandria, VA also has good stuff from time to time

So nothing like shark aquarium or aquascapeonline which is what I used to live near

Depends where you live in the dmv. Any "good" lfs will order whatever you want. Even our local petco will special order.

beltway aquariums (greenbelt) has higher prices than house of tropicals and the fish in there are kept in very nasty conditions. pristine aquariums is small and has extremly high prices with a very basic selection of fish. house of tropicals is the best your gonna get in this area.

Not all fish are more expensive at greenbelt. I would say house of tropicals is best for most fish.

If you are looking for piranhas, large cichlids, pbass and the cool oddball everyone now and then, go to greenbelt.

Yeah, I agree with pretty much everything everyone has said. That said I'm not really a fan of any if the shops in the area. I try to get most of my stock from mfk members.

just went to greenbelt to get a large male jack dempsey the whole tank was filled with ick infested dempseys $19.99 same price as house of tropicals who had very healthy dempseys. he somtimes has very small fish for cheap but anything with some size is high priced and kept in bad condition i dont know if there was even one clean tank in the whole store. i look for quality in my fish not a cheap price the cheapest store around and the only one that will really try to order for you is edens pets. tropical lagoon, pristine, edens, house of tropicals all have better quality fish. scales used to have the best kept fish before the went out of biz i like quality fish
