Maybe I'll visit them one day.

Is it a big place?

+1 for pacific aquarium! Their coral selection sucks but they have beautiful fish selection! Memorable ones include roseline sharks, red severums, a variety of rays, moorish idols, etc...

And if you want arowanas or really nice flowerhorns there are a few places in Chinatown.

I've heard of a place called Beitals or something like that, anyone know of it?
We bought our first set up from them years ago. Beitals Aquariums has been around for decades. Theyre in Pearl River, NY & just moved to a new location about six months ago. Craig, the owner can be very abrasive if he's in a grumpy mood. Doesn't bother me though, he's actually very knowledgeable, as is his his elderly dad Gil, who is a fantastic source of info. Their prices can be expensive. But, they have an ongoing coupon you can use every month on their website`s Ongoing Specials page:

" Purchase any Fresh or saltwater fish at our showroom at full price and receive a 2nd. fish at half price! OR: Get 10% off every purchase of $100 or more. *

Yeah, I've done a fair bit of digging and Pacific Aquarium is def one of the bests in Manhattan. There are also 2 other near by where you can find some gems (38 Aquarium is on Mott & Broome and then aqua star pet shop is on mulberry between broome and grand, but they are very small, usually overpriced and tanks aren't' cleanest, but I have found a few rare fish in there before, like tigs, nice jardinis, black arows, etc.)

I must agree. These lil shops in ctown do have some rare gems and they are gone quick. Although like some said, their tanks are small and dirty, all the fish are healthy that i got. I was talkimg to the owners, they do a lot of water changes and never bother wiping or cleaning tanks bc it disturbs the beneficial bacteria
