PLEASE PLEASE TAKE ACTION AND STOP THESE CRIMINALS!!!

...If you want, I can be right there calling them out with you. I, as well as Zoodiver (Matt) have connections to the governing entities which can bring an end to this...

:clap Kudos to you and Matt.

Jesshark, if it makes you feel any better Im in the same boat right now. I made the mistake of sending a large deposit to a collector in Ghana West Africa for collection of Scyliorhinus cervigoni sharks. The collector provided references including Segrest Farms and Aquatech which did check out. Payment was sent in January and he has bin doing nothing but telling me BS lies, excuses and pulling quotes out from the Bible to gain trust. He also requested that I send him an additional 1000USD to continue collection. The odd thing is that he is always prompt with response to emails reassuring to "have faith and we will prevail" I guess I haven't bin saying enough prayers

Anyways Ive got to say that Matt and Em have bin ontop of SharksUnlimited from from day one and with good reason. What can I say but dollar lost is a lesson learned and good luck. Damb

I started this thread when I started getting worried about my order with him
I talk to him about sharks for my pond weeks before the 24th he recommended for my 1000 gal pond 11x5x2deep and yes he new the dimensions.

1 bonnethead
3 sharpnoses
1 mini bull

Wow -really? And he allowed you to order these sharks.

On the Sharks Unlimited/Shark Supply website - he states that all 3 of thses species require a tank that is more than 6' wide. You tank isn't that wide. So that would break one of his guidelines. And it's never good - if a business doesn't at least stick to it's minimum guidelines.

All due respect - jsshark1 - your tank isn't really large enough - to keep a neonate sharpnose or bonnethead pup for even a 1 year. And you likely couldn't keep a neonate Finetooth(mini-bull) for even 6 months(their born at about the same size as a Blacktip reef).

Truth is he shouldn't have agreed to sell even one specimen of any of these 3 species. All 5 sharks in a pond that size is unthinkable. Still that no excuse for the problems you've been experiencing.

I do plan on expanding the pond...to around 2000...

that is what I thought, 5 sharks :screwy:
I even sent him pics of my pond when I got it up and running.

that is why I just wanted one at first .....so when i got the call that i could have one in my pond in days,,,, i was ready for the picking with my pond up and running and waiting for a first shark.......

crumbs..... they do talk a good game. :irked:

I was scammed by this guy last year! I ordered two mini bulls and two sharpnose sharks that were all supposed collected and ready for sale. I sent Ken a total of $1800 in three payments ( the three payments were one each for the finetooths and one for the pair of sharpies). I drove to my airport to pick up the first shark. I was back at home within one hour of the pick up. The finetooth was DOA. There was barely enough water to cover the shark, which looked like it had beem dead for some time. There was also considerable damage to the snout, a sure sign the shark was kept in too small of confines. When I contacted him he insisted that the shark was fine when shipped, OK I'll give him benefit of the doubt.

Several days later I was to receive the sharpies. The night before I contact him to verify shipment info. I am told that one of the larger sharks in the tank ate one of the sharpies and took a big bite out of the other. I may be mistaken but wouldn't someone who boosts so much knowledge know better then to keep neonates in the same pool as larger sharks, especially ones big enough to EAT them! By this time I am getting peeved. Ken assures me that he will make it all right but will need more money and time. The time I was willing to give but not the money!! After only two weeks I am still out my money and but one very dead shark.

When it became clear that he had no intentions of making things right, I contacted my CC company and Paypal and was able to get all my money back. What does he do but start to smear me all over the net. Saying how I tried to scam him and screw him out of money. He even went so far to stir up a guy from Ohio that I have had very bad dealings with in the past.

I should have known when I spoke to him before even placing an order that he was trouble. I asked why he was away from the collection business for a number of years and he had the gall to blame Greg (sharkdealer). He accused Greg of ripping him off and getting him in trouble with the law. He also blamed Forrest Young of Dynasty of putting out false information about Sharks Unlimited. I had worked with Forrest's company from my public aquarium days and should have known Ken was a liar.

I await Ken's response for this as he will unodoubtaly call me a liar and cheat.

See, this is why I was so harsh on that guy both here and on SRC.
This guy is a nut job and a liar.

If you want help with it, like Em offered, I'm here. My life's work has been to stop people like this guy. He's not better than a fishing boat finning sharks for profit. He's not in it for the animals, he is in it for the money. I've got nothing but free time on my hands right now to help anyone out who has had issues with him. And (again, as Em said) we can deal with it in legal fashion with the proper authorities to shut him down and recover money he is stealing from customers.

jsshark1 - IMO even a 2,000 gallon tank/pond may be enough to keep a neonate sharpnose or bonnethead for it's 1st year. Actually - if you want to learn about keeping Bonnetheads and Sharpies in a private Aquaria - Mattiej's the one to ask. He's been doing it for about 4 years(IIRC).

Btw - Mattiej sorry to hear about your bad experience with - Ken Moran/Sharks Unlimited/Shark Supply. But glad to hear that you at least got your money back.

I just saw the part about Forrest. I find this to be a highlight comment, since on Shark Ray Central, I pointed out Forrest/Dynasty as a top collecter of sharks with a great rep, and he claimed to not even know who that was - and I am the one who was obviously not informed when it came to shark collection.

Direct contradiction - and yet one more lie from this company. I've known about Forrest since my days in Texas. He supplied some of the larger elasmos for the Dallas World Aquarium. I even know some of his staff since they used to work at places I've worked with.

I recently found a price list(that I had printed off the computer) from this company (When it went by the name Sharks Unlimited, Inc.) that was dated 7/22/2002.

Here's some of "interesting stuff" on the website at that time.

- Atlantic Sharpnose - offered exclusively from Sharks Unlimited, Inc. We offer pups & year juveniles. They need a pond at least 8 ft in Diameter.
Pups (10-15 in.) - $ 60 each, (20-26 in.) - $ 100

- Bull Shark Pups (Carcharhinus leucas) - offered exclusively from Sharks Unlimited, Inc. IF you do not have a pool/pond at least 15-20 ft in diameter - do not ask about these. They are expensive & require a good hand. This species is known for its savage attacks on humans.
Pups - Email or call for price.

- Bonnethead - Only confinable species of Hammerhead. These sharks requires a minimum of 10ft diameter for long term at larger sizes. Pups (10-13 inches) require as little as 150 gallons.

- Finetooth - offered exclusively from Sharks Unlimited, Inc. This is a magnigicent small coastal species is cheaper and more impressive than a Blacktip. but they are husky & plump like 8ft bull sharks. They don't grow much over 4.5 ft. It can be kept with Bonnetheads & Sharpnose. If you don't have a 12-20ft in length or diameter pond, don't ask about these.
