Yeah we got slammed, at my house we had 7+ inches of snow (not THAT big od a deal) but we also had easily .5" of ice on everything and that is killer. So many trees down, over night it sounded like a war zone with all the trees falling around us!
i know what you mean about the war zone thing, i was sure to wear a helmet when i shoveled my driveway the next day

That's crazy.. I haven't heard anything from my in-laws and they live in the ST Matthews area.. Not sure where the heck that is but i'll be visiting there in 5 months or so for my niece's graduation..

St. Mathews is about 15minutes from me, closer into town. They got hit hard by the remnants of Hurricane Ike in Septemper, did they tell you about that? Well that storm was the worse poweroutage in L'ville history and they say there are 1,000 more powerlines down from this storm then that one and it took over a week for everyone to get power then!

Where is your neice graduating from?

Very sorry to hear about your fishes, many tropical fish can handle water down to 55 if they have to but it's not good for them and many will die later of complications. I live in a hurricane zone, I always make sure my tanks will operate for several days with nothing but a battery powered air stone. Not sure how to get around the whole low temp thing. a kerosene heater would help but they are dangerous, please be careful if you get one. Heat with out electricity, unless you heat with gas, is difficult. I hope it works out, I hate to see fish die for sure.

Wow, you are close.. I'm surprized i haven't heard from them yet.. Hope they get power to you soon and it doesn't take a week or more. My neice is at Highview Baptist High School, i think she graduates in june or july and i'll be flying in for a week or so for that.

I'm glad i have a generator now, the last time we had a big power outage it was out for a couple days and i lost all 3 aro's and almost 2 or 3 other fish too.. It may cost a chunk up front but it will pay it's self off..

Hope everything works out and the reports are wrong. Right now they are saying up to two weeks to restore the power.

UPDATE: Let there be light! After nearly 48hrs and me on the verge of packing my fish and moving them, the power came back on! I am really surprised I got it that fast as bad as it was!

I my fish suffered no ill effect and the water only dropped down into the 60's even though it was in the low 40s in my apt!!

I cant say the same for member's in the local fish club. Many people are reporting huge losses, even 100% losses. :(
