I don't have any room for any more flowerhorns right now but I would be interested in doing another group buy for everybody in a few months-year from now. I could probably organize it a little better next time around since I won't be moving and setting tanks up the week before. It just depends what pops up for sale and how much the seller is asking. Shipping is another factor. It took me a long time to find quality fry for that cheap.
here is a link to some fries for sale right now on the site I found our KML and KK's on
http://www.flowerhorncraze.com/index.php?showtopic=78372
they are nice but I am happier with the fish we got @ the price we got them at.
I don't recommend buying single fries off of sellers because the prices won't be that great. Julie is the trans shipper you're going to want to use. She charges $2 per fish to import them, the larger the fish the more expensive but it's about $1 per 1". Fedex overnight is $65 + there might be some packaging fees.
If I were in your guys shoes I'd browse aquabid to see whats for sale under $100. Raising fry is nice but there are some really nice flowerhorn on there from $30-50 that will grow into masterpieces. Sometimes you're better off buying 1 masterpiece then raising 5 fry because it's all a chance at what they're going to send you.
here is a good example of what I am talking about..
this is the first fish I ever imported. I got him from ccooler on aquabid for $50. This was his picture on aquabid
day 1 in my tank
3-5 months later
I sold him for $250 at this size (~5-6") but he had a lot of room to grow. I wasn't planning on selling him but there are more fish in the sea, or at least on aquabid in Thailand LOL. When I ordered him I also got another fish from ccooler and some red dragon fry.
here was a $5 red dragon fry from Rainybetta I also got on that order
sold him for $100 before I moved. Didn't plan on selling him either but he helped fund my KML's
