a figure 8 puffer and a senegal bichir. not much room for much else.

Definitely not. The bichir needs at least a 40 gallon breeder. I can't give you info on the figure eight though- no first hand experience on those.

@ druu:you might get one in there but you need brackish water i think you would have to get rid of the rest

I wouldn't suggest a bushfish IMO, they need more than 10G, if your looking for oddball species, cory cats or dojo loaches are always cool.

Skim the polypterus forums. Even though they are one of the smaller species of bichir, senegalus mature at 12-14".

ok... cuz my senegal is between 3 and 4 years old now and is maxed out somewhere between 10-11". i'm sure he'd do fine in a 10g with another smallish fish. albeit that breaks the '1 inch per gallon' rule, i myself am probably over meticulous about filtration and water changes so that's my perspective.

With all due respect, a human can survive in a jail cell that's 5x8x7 (length x width x height). I was referring to the ideal housing conditions.

A 10 gallon tank is 20x10x12 (LxWxH). Your senegal is 11 inches long. An 11 inch fish in a 10 inch wide tank is ridiculous. He could swim 9 inches and then he would have to flip a u turn. :screwy: Why would you do that to a fish you like?
