ppl deffinetly kept them before once i get enough money for new tanks im gona make a crappie tank, so its possible and proly not that hard. just dont say u caught the fish in a net it upsets ppl on this site b/c ur not spossed to catch gamefish with a net, so refrain from that lol using a rod and reels alot more fun anyway

It's not just that fact that some people get upset about people netting game fish, its the fact that it is ILLEGAL in many places!

I was considering have crappie in my tank once, but then i realized how large they could get and decided to go with sunfish. and crappie are not to active in aquariums, from my experience.

ya the net thing is ok cause its my grandpas pond and im a iowa dnr volenteer so it all good lol i checked on that. it is oked plus they over running the pond im suposed to throw them on the bank and as a avid fisherman and fish keeper i cant in good concinse do that im talking to my boss at dnr to see if there is any ponds or local lakes to help drop the poulation in the pond lol they are just thick in there. i caut all but mabe 3 out of nine on rod i actualy threw the net to get some tadpoles for my nephew and they came up in the net so i kept em. sorry if i have offended any body. but i have done my homework on this.

You could pretty much set up a tank for an oscar, drop the temp a few degrees and insert a crappie. They get huge and are always hungry, from I've read. I haven't kept one, but if they're anything like sunfish, they'll be worth the work.

i've kept them before, like he said keep the water cool and he'll be fine. if you get a few they will school. it's easier to to get them to eat chiclid pellets if they see other fish doing it. it only took mine about 2 days before they were eating like store bought fish.
