I dis liked keeping crappie, def. do not keep them with other aggressive fish. They are vary hard to pellet train. I have gotten them to eat unfrozen shrimp and dead minnows. Best of luck

Black crappies spawn in water way colder then that. They move to spawning areas the week the ice comes of the lakes, up here.
