I have had insomnia problems since I was about 14. It always takes me at least 45 minutes to fall asleep (average is 7-15) and I had two consecutive sleepless nights this week (rare). I am told that watching screens doesn't help, but reading does...not that I ever listened to that. I have always been resistant to taking physically addictive drugs to remediate it because I don't want to make my condition worse. However, if pot is decriminalized I wouldn't hesitate to go back to it...but until then, I just have to deal with it myself.

I know what you mean about your mind racing though....and you're really SOL if you get a song stuck in your head. Some more than others of course.
yeah i always find it amazing how a drug which is safer than alcohol and has a lot of good to do is this illegal hell over here they are so backword it is in the second top class of drugs.
good exaple to kids that.

but i always thought i had a problem with sleep but really its just not enough exercise and not being able to switch off.

the more you think the harder it is
just remember no coffrer or high sugar doses before bed and dont get sucked into all the sleep aids out there its just a away to get you to part with cash.
try to get a time set were you go to bed and go to sleep. if you dont drift off get up do something until you feel ready.

T -hen away you go..... ahhhhhh sleep ahhhhhh sleep......

Google "sleep hygiene". I took a class on it an it was helpfull. The music might be keeping you awake by keeping portions of your subconcious brain active listening to it as you try ro sleep. Playing video games before bed keeps me awake. It stimulates brain activity that stays active hours later. my battery is about to die so here are some quick pointers.
Lights out, total silence, dont have your clock somewhere you can see it from bed.
Goodnight and good luck.

didn't read all the pages, but i've always been a night person... even as a kid... now as an almost 30yr old, i still don't get to sleep at any time before 1:00am... on average i only sleep at probably 1:30am at the earliest...

i am the same as the rest of you. no use telling my story cuz it has been told a bunch of times already...

I get in bed around 1, asleep by 3-4. Wake up at 12 if I'm free, 8 if I'm working. Lie awake for a few hours every night. It's honestly the best part of my day. No one to disturb me, I'm comfortable.. I just think.

Yo, since you're having trouble with the bending element thing, have you thought about inception instead? It'll even help you sleep!

It might be the music. Since I was 14 or 15, if I was listening to music I would just become entranced and really unable to do anything else lol.

Even now, when I sit down and listen to music, I better have at least an hour or so free.

Myself, I found I get the best sleep if I stop listening to music at least two hours before I go to bed. I also do water changes on my tanks before bed. I try to not watch TV anytime before I go to bed and I don't listen to music. Also, if tomorrow is going to be a sucky day (like school or something) anxiety can really keep you awake in bed for 3-4 more hours on bad nights.
