Well its Feb now... sooner or later ima start pullin out the gear ^^

I never put my gear away, i fished today  not ice fishing just tossing a jerk bait on the pond down my street caught 2 decent size LMB's

when you mean plecos are you getting confused with Sea Robin? they are saltwater

I fish out of Ct we have our boat in Fairfield so dont do much pier fishing ( we just bought a new Pro line 25 ft center counsel things a beast)
depends on how much current is by the pier and how deep i would say go with a 2 ounce weight

Heres a pic of one of my Trophy Bass, if I remember correctly I believe this one put up a fight much better than any Bluefish, I ever caught too.

Balooney utter bullsh*t i have caught blue fish while in florida and they are nothing, a large lmb is pound for pound a better fight, but under 3.5 pounds your right.
In LMB v Bluefish, I still side with bluefish. Last spring, I caught a 29 inch, 7.5 lb blue off a pier. My drag was screaming and he bent a medium heavy rod to the point where I feared it would snap- and that was just from fighting it, not getting him up to the rail.

So true.

In new york there is a town named New Rochelle it's waters are on the long island sound its like 15 min away from orchard beach and city island. There is this charter boat named the kondiak that leaves from glen island. It charges like 40 bucks per person for the whole day. It goes all the way out into the atlantic ocean maybe 1-2 miles off of Manhatten island and there is awsome blue fish fishing there. My rod almost broke from a blue fish when the adrenalyn starts puming your foreget about your rod and all you think about it getting that beauty on the boat. XD I remember my first time when i went on i was new to those weird reels and my line kept getting tangled. But yea blue fish are awsome.

Keep your thumb on the line when dropping and you won't birds nest. :-)

You going to run charter MFK trips? :-) I usually don't go with less than 3 oz when casting off a pier. On charter boats I don't like using under 5 oz.

Before I got into the hobby of fishing freshwater, I actually first started fishing saltwater and I would go to "The Rocks" of FT. Totten in Queens and stand on the rocks far into the shore and cast a circle hook with a metal leader and a 8 LB weight with some Bunker on the hook. Then I put my pipe in the rocks and set down my rod in the pipe and place my little bells on the tip of the rod and sit back and relax.

Last summer I walked away to talk to some guy who was telling me his stories about how he comes here a lot and watches the Fish warrdens come and inspect all the catches to see if they are within legal size to keep.

Suddenly, my bells go crazy and start ringing and my rod is bening forward and I run to get it and I set the hook on him and boom! The hardest fight of my life began. I struggled with him for like 6 minutes until he tricked me and ran into the rocks trying to make my line scrape into the rocks so it can snap but I got him!

It was so big that when I held him from the gills he flopped so hard that I almost fell back into the rocks and fell with him but my friend held me forward:WHOA:

So that was my saltwater experience, but after that I had him for dinner , he went in the oven with some potatoes and veggies and mash potatoes:headbang2

Was this a bass? Sounds unlike a blue to head for the rocks. If it was a bass, steak it up and grill!
