Why waste time, money and effort on this and end up with a dead aro and a very beaten up one?

I have seen a few examples of these fish coexisting in large tanks. And also if you look in my sig I have plenty of other tanks to put him in :naughty:. So worst case scenario one fish gets beat up then i seperate them.

definitly no no for a jardini and a silver..

im doing it!

silver and jar dont ever fight. my jar is about 9-10" (about the time everyone says it will snap, so im still waiting till after 12") and my silver is about 11". dont forget i have 17 dats.... 9 my dats are bite size (1-2") and the jar nor the silver have touched them.

many have no sucess, but doesnt mean you cant do it... as long as you got the money and time. this was my 1st attempt also, so i guess i got lucky.

Same here Im waiting for him to get to his adult size to see if this really works but i have both fish in a 240 with quite a few other tank mates so aggression isnt a issue at this point. have you noticed your two swimming togethter at times?

I always find it funny for people to give advice that dont even have any experience in keeping the specific fish mentioned. Im not going to say who but there in this thread.

actually i do find them swimming together like they are a pair or something. i thought it was weird, but pretty cool.

yeah i do find it funny how a lot of people mention what they read and make it seem like they know everything. just try it out... my theory was raising my jar at a young age with other fish throughout his whole life. ive had my jar with danios when i first got him at like 1.5," then angel fish, datnoids, discus, plecos, feng fei, majestic shelter, silver aro, gold head comp, neon tetras etc. only fish he has ever ate were the danios and tetras. my silver aro was the one i had problems with... he ate a few baby dats when he 1st got into the tank (now he doesnt touch the dats) and killed my other silver aro... my jar is harmless to other tankmates (so far).

Thats what i assumed as long as hes around enough fish where aggresion can be spread out (which there has been no aggression YET) And I did also get him at a young age he was prbably 2-3 inches id say so it nots like he is used to anything else. My silver loves to steal everyones food but doesnt bother anyone
