Yea the free time thing always bothers me too.
There are people at work that smoke and to them smoke breaks don't count as breaks. From what I have seen these seem to total about an hour a day in the winter and two hours a day in the summer, on top of normal breaks. In fact there is a technician that had quit for years but started up again (and is now back to over a pack a day) simply because he wanted in on the breaks.
Call it 5-10 minutes per cig to get to somewhere and smoke it, which is about 3 hours a day. Imagine everything you could do with 3 hours a day.
Or a pack a day depending on where you live is $1500 or so per year. Ask her if she wants to smoke or spend a week in the Caribbean every year? (I made that argument to someone once when they said they couldn't afford to travel, now they do indeed go a week a year somewhere warm).
