Me and a friend were talking about how they used to cost like 5 bucks. I've obviously heard they are illegal, but was wondering if they are illegal across the entire country. thanks for info.

Maryland is the only state with any species that are legal I believe.....

well, I missed the snakehead section above which said they are legal in md, but you can't buy one in md. So, if you happend to have one when they went illegal you can keep it? Man I wish I would have kept one, but I never really liked them when I was younger. There are still plenty of other mean fish I have yet to own.

Can't you still have them imported from one of these fish dealers over in asia? I guess they would catch it at the port. I don't know

No you can not have them imported or transport across state lines per the federal ban. The federal govt. can only control interstate commerce hence why MD is allowed to say you can have them but you really cant get any imported in.

Yep MD is the only legal state and I just got 4 snakeheads! Took me FOREVER to get these. Just because they are legal here doesn't make them any easier to get. You basically have to get pretty friggin' creative.

So do tell, it sounds like there might be an interesting story there.

You just threw yourself under the big bus... They are legal to keep, but still illegal to acquire, buy, sell, breed etc...

no interesting story in the way i acquired mine. they were given to me. if i had've "gotten creative" i would have gotten those bad boys a long time ago.

yeah, Timmy I know. since mine were given to me within the state i'm pretty positive i'm legal. from my understanding as long as i didn't pay, trade or bring them across state lines i'm good.;)
