ok so to do list:

1. read tons of stuff and do tons of research
2. figure out the livestock for the tank
3. get a tank (range between 40-125)
4. make sump
5. get skimmer (rated for 1.5 to 2x tank size)
6. prep water
7. add fish
8. maintain aquarium

does that sound good?

Are you going to add live rock to your set-up ?

i was considering that but the only thing is im not to sure what live rock is

Live rock is pours rock taken out of the ocean. It’s made from the calcified / hardened remains of dead coral. It’s called live rock because it is filled with BB and will become your biological filtration in a SW aquarium. IMO, live rock is a key element in a healthy SW set-up.

When you start your research, I would also suggest look into the different types, or levels of quality in live rock. As a rule of thumb, you will need 1 lb of live rock per gallon of water. If you have a really good quality rock, you could get a away with less, if you have lower quality rock you will need a little more.

Live rock, and cycling the tank where two things that I noticed missing.

Lighting also must be brought into consideration.

I like and use MH...I have also done PC, and just built my first t5 fixture.

LED is cool, and there are for sure some units out there that are worth a second look, but I personally havent made the jump yet.
