Im getting a new tank set up and im planning on getting a bicher there for, i dont know the best bicher for a 40-45 gallon long planted tank or if they will even fit in a 40-45 gallon long, it will be the only fish in there, and the substrate will ve sandy so he doesnt have digestive issues, so if you can lead me towards the way to go it'd be greatly appreciated

You want to look at the upper jaws. They are perfect for a tank that size.

Ex: delhezi, senegalus, palmas complex, retros etc.

Would avoid ornate, weeksii, and teugelsi due to their large potential size.

Post in the ancient section under polypterus. Better responses there.

Like kno4te kno4te said, only upper jaw polys, as they stay small. Don't do teugelsi, Weeksii, or Ornates, as they're the three uj exceptions that grow to 18-24"+.

Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 and J jaws7777 will explain everything you need to know to keep polys.

Hajah thx angelphish lol

Get a nice del and you will be very haopy. Keep the water clean, dont go nuts with flow, give it a hide or two and some plants if you want.

Also vary its diet. Pellets, chopped tilapia and worms would be fine

I completely agree. A del would be great in that tank as the only fish.
