Anybody ever eat a fish commonly kept in aquaria?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love Unagi (eel sushi). when I was eating in my living room I had to turn my back to my tank that had 3' tessellate eel swimming around. I would have no problem eating many things considered pets just nothing out of my personal tank.

I eat some fish if they outgrow my tank and can't revoke them. Most of the fish we keep are a major food source somewhere in the world. Prime says don't for human consumption because they don't want to deal regulations. Preppers hoard fish medication and water purifier. Here is what I remember of the top of my head. There are hillbillies near me who raise cattle, chickens and rabbits for food. I don't see raising fish being any different.

Freshwater:Pacu, Tigrinus, Payara, Arapima, Peacock bass, Oscars, Stingrays.

Saltwater: Lionfish, Tessaleta Eel, Panther Grouper, Bamboo Shark, Pilot Fish, Garabaldi.

Off the top of my head I've had:
Astronotus occelatus
Heros notatus
Serrasalmus rhombeus
Serrasalmus elongatus
Chaetobranchus orbicularis
Leporinus fasciatus
Cichla temensis
Phseudoplatystoma faciatium
Arapaima gigas
Colossoma macropomum
Acestrorhynchus falcatus
Hoplias malabaricus

Next time use a plate! LOL!

Swai and Basa are Pangasius Catfish? I guess I've eaten an iridescent and enjoyed it. I don't know how I feel about that- I guess kind of bad and hungry at the same time :nilly:. We found some canned wild red oscar in a jar in my friends cellar it's vintage from 1988. I have yet to convince him to eat it.

Don't know if its actually true, but I remember hearing something about McDonald's filet-o-fish being farmed swai.

Oscar melt, anyone?

Lot of snakehead, giant gourami, snakeskin gourami as well. I spent a good deal of time in Southeast Asia
