I know I'm not the only (dork) one...

Latest is a common goldfish. When I adopted my F/S gar last month I bought a bag of feeders because that's what he'd been eating and I wanted him fat before I started the switch (looking back I probably didn't need to bother but anyway...). Well he nailed all of them except one, but that one had gotten whacked by something and it got sucked into my overflow. I found it on the drip plate in my w/d and tossed it in my growout tank cuz I figured it would just keep getting pulled in (could have just gave it to the turtles I suppose). So he made it and he's getting huge...not even anything special, just a normal finned orange common goldfish. I keep saying "I'll feed him to somebody" but I never do and he's pushing 3" now so soon he'll be too big for anyone to munch on.

I had a single rosie in my ck tank for about a month. Then it disappeared. :)

I have a puffer and goldfish together (see avatar). The Puffer wasn't eating anything, even snails. My last attempt to get him to eat was a feeder goldfish. He didn't eat that either, but when the gold fish bit at food, the puffer would steal it. When I remove him the puffer will quit eating.

Wow that's odd...you'd think once he started he wouldn't need the goldfish to coax him. Nice color on the goldie (and nice puffer of course).

i once kept a goldfish for quite a while.
i liked th pattern on his tail.
one day the pbass outgrew and ate him.

I once bought a bag of (supposed) ghost shrimp that must have been another kind of shrimp. One survived and ended up growing to about 5" not including his long skinny claws. I kept it for about a year before finally moving it into the Jag tank where he finally got eaten.

I have 4 goldfish about 4inches that were feeders and wound up in the overflows. Now they are my mom's pond fish and I get them back every winter until she gets the pond back up.

wow that puffer and goldy is crazy! so much for stereotypical tankmates!!!

i bought some medium sized comets when my pbass and TSN were still eating smaller feeders, just to see if they would eat the bigger ones.
well they didnt, and the 4 comets got bigger and bigger, until i worried that if the bass TRIED to eat them, they mite choke or something ... so they went into one of my other tanks, and they have grown to about 5" now!!
needless to say my girlfriend has gotten attached to them (then again she doesnt like me using feeders in the first place)
so needless to say, even when my TSN gets big enough to take them, i dont know if i will be allowed to feed them ... so i may have comets living the rest of their lives in one of my tanks!

I'm keeping a cold water tank with 8 Comets and some Rosies...

I currently have four (I think they are called) gold comets in my 29 gal, along with nearly 50 feeder guppies that are growing to be the parents of my feeder guppy population.
