My friend has 12 inch jardini arowana which he is selling for $100 and it has gill curl do u guys know how to cure it without a operation? i heard you have to clean the filter do a water change every week and add a tablespoon of salt per gallon any other ways?

Power-head! a strong one. It will blow the gills into normal position and in affect eventually cure it. This coupled with heavy water changes and salt treatment and you have a very very good chance of fixing his fish. (pm Delgado and see if he can give you some advice....:))

Its usually caused when there is less space for the aro to turn and he may try moving backward to turn and this would cause the gill to curl...

For that, it's going to take a while. For one that take less than 2 weeks to happen, it's either dirty water, or too much water change without or with little of conditioner. Bottom line, lack of oxygen causes gill curl. Rapid change in temperature could cause drop eye, not gill curl. Powerhead method is one way may fix the problem without doing surgery

Our TSN was braught into our home with this condition on the right hand side. Over time...good water quality and a saturation level of DO seems to be slowly reversing the problem.
