anybody thinks kanye west sucks??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only thing is that i've noticed (alot where I live) that SOME people (usually white) will list rap that the trends say is cool as thier favorite.

Seriously, are you kidding?

Being black doesn't make anyone a reliable resource on decent rap music.

People in general trend towards commercial crap. It has nothing to do with black and white. Black people are just as bad about listening to total crap (IMO).

And really, it's subjective, so who cares. People hate a lot of the music I listen to and vice versa. It's not even really important.

You're referring to people being posers, and race is NOT a factor. That kind of crap is ludicrous no matter who is doing it.
It's just as ludicrous suggesting that there is something wrong with people because they don't listen to what you particularly think is "real". People will listen to what they enjoy. If someone enjoys certain music, so what?

I'm not going to comment on the genre of rap, because I think it's kinda sad that people can generalize their tastes based on a whole style. I take my preferences by artists. I like some rappers, kanye is not one of them. I have to disagree with anyone who says he's talented. I will provide proof (I know this is probably the most overplayed song ever, but people migrate to what they hear, so I believe it's a good example):

You know how long I've been on ya?
Since prince was on Apollonia
Since OJ had Isotoners

So we goin' do everything that Kan like
Heard they'd do anything for a Klondike
Well I'd do anything for a blonde dyke

So how the hell could you front on me
There's a thousand yous
Theres only one of me

Do anybody make real **** anymore?
Bow in the presence of greatness
Cause right now thou has forsaken us
You should be honored by my lateness
That I would even show up to this fake ****

So... narcissist that makes up clever words to fit that doesn't really make sense? Yeah, since when did writing a song about how freakin awesome you are make you talented?

You have to remember that kanye is a beat man. He made the Blueprint, and alot of Nas' stuff. All that kweli and common stuff is his too. He's been behind the scenes so much that he had you take his turn.

Also "Shine because they hate us
Floss cause they degrade us
We tryin' to take back our forty acres"
That rhymes.

Even though he "Never slang a crack rock"
he "Still makes raps that hit the block"
He has a new take on rap and he is very talented. yes he is full of himself, but that's just who he is. its like toughening up country and calling it new country.

Hate to tell you white people, but just because you site Tribe, it doesn't make you cool. I appreciate the attempt but listening to Tribe, Public enemy, and De La and then flaunting it without listening to the real stuff is foolish.

I would suggest that everyone listen to more Nas, and listen to his words closely. Also hit up some Pharcyde. AZ is pretty good too, and Talib Kweli is exactly what Hip Hop should be.
Don't ever listen to Saul Williams!

assuming who we are and who we listen to. lame. tribe was just an example of people that dont rap about drugs and crime and their street cred. i dont think there are a of people that just listen to a few of those you stated and brag like they know rap.
old school rap, gangster rap, new rap and whatever rap is all good. just trying to show that there is positive rap because im making the assumption that most people hate rap because of what they hear on the radio.
the only rap that shouldnt be called rap is SOUTHERN RAP. not an attack on your music but please dont take a style and change it and still call it rap.

He needs to sing more like SlipKnoT or MuDvAyNe!!

No hard feelings of course. I am not saying that white people shouldn't listen to hip hop. I think the exact opposite. Everyone should listen to rap. The only thing is that i've noticed (alot where I live) that SOME people (usually white) will list rap that the trends say is cool as thier favorite. Right now that's tribe and that's public enemy. I think that it's great that people are giving hip hop a chance but it would be better I think if they listened to all the stuff out and then decided for themselves what is good.
If you don't already use it go to pandora.com and make a few hip hop stations along with whatever else you like. It will realy widen your musical horizon.
Typically people just follow the masses instead of thinking for themselves.
As for people with long hair screaming into a microphone, that is more like death metal. The heavy metal I remember was more fun, or made you think.

I did't say blacks were better rap listeners, I was just explaining why I assumed whoever listed tribe was white. Anyway... I was writing in the forum like I talk to my friends and maybe I shouldn't. Forget about the race thing, I feel I'm right but I shouldn't have brought it up. Really, I should have left off with just the fact that I hate fake people. It's not about listening to crap... I have no problem with that... It's being fake that gets to me.

ok back to the original subject- i dont care for kanye.. he has this sense of entitlement that i dont feel he has earned. if he doesnt get what he wants he throws a fit like a little 5 yr old girl, and that is a major turn off. i think to be great in the music industry, you need to be able to write your own music, sing it, be able to read sheet music (your a musician, righ? you should be able to) and play an instrument.

that cuts out most of the "music" industry.
