Anybody use Purigen?

That's very possible. I've had Purigen clean up water that was stained by driftwood. I'd buy the mesh bag that SeaChem sells for Purigen if you try it. Other bags I've bought for Purigen are not fine enough, end up with Purigen bits all over the place.

Dint get Purigen, get Macropore, it's exactly the same stuff, made in the same factory!

My water was always clear before but after 2 days I'm shocked at how clear it is now. I think it always had a faint tint to it which is now gone. I won't test my Nitrates until Saturday / Sunday when I do a water change, so nothing to report on that.

Purigen and Macropore require slow flow rates, if your adding it to a canister with a high flow rate, changes are the water is flowing through the purigen/macropore without reacting with it.

I took the outlet from my 2262 and split it so that 2/3 goes to teh spraybar, and the other 1/3 goes through my UV and then through the reactor with Chemzee and 250ml Macropore.

I use it in 2 sump setups. Been living in fine mesh bags for about 7 years now.
I pull the bags every 3-4 months, recharge, and throw them back in the dumps. Very easy to use.

I have it in my FX5, maybe that is why I'm not seeing much difference now. A guy local is selling a Fluval 304, would that be ok or does the flow rate need to be even less? I think it's 260gph?

I say it's more trouble than it's worth because I've never seen a big improvement in water clarity with it. Only time Purigen has really impressed me is with wood stained water. It definitely removes whatever comes out of wood and darkens water. But, other than that, it just doesn't seem to do a whole lot more for water clarity than a plain old water change does. In my experience anyway.

And I've had trouble with it because I didn't use the right media bags. So it escapes, which is a mess.
