Anyone built an upside down stand before?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok, I have removed the old set up- my wet friends are in assorted areas of the garage, the 55 has the big ones, the silver dollars are in the sumptank 15g, and my sunfish is in a 5 gallon bucket. Heated where needed and pretty much all filters are on the 55...~600gph I'd venture.

Ran into my first problem, the bottom tank, being a 90 gallon, I never thought to meaure height! Damn!!!

Well I have it set up but not sure if I like the arrangement. Here's a pic.

As you can see, I have to have it pulled out about 6" to be able to get the lids to work, but the bulbs for the lights are accessible as is the rest of the tank, it just looks, well big! This will be my bichir/African tank- no cichlids.

Not sure if I like it, but the option is to remove the 'T' of the lower shelf ie: front bar and middle support, to set this 90 on the floor like it was. This removes a lot of the stability of the original stand, but I dunno about my modified stand. I will hold, just concerned about aesthetics...

Opinions?

Since I am in a bit of a hurry, I went ahead and went the other route of cutting out the bottom shelf...Had to be done.

I will attach the stand rigidly to the wall, so structurally it will be sound.

I just have to wait for my filter to clear up the water and I am ready to relieve some stress from my overpopulated 55g!

-Just got the neighbor to help with the placing of the 125...Sand is in and draining off what is left of the cloudiness...

Went all metal with the stand with 3/4 steam/gas pipe uprights and I cut out the lowerr cross brace so that the 90 sits on the floor. Changed up the upper tank set too, will be placing x2 45gallon show tanks up top to keep symmetry and to get 24" tall tanks.

Selling the 55 and keeping the 29 on a stand next to these and removing the substrate to become hospital/fry bare bottom tank.

Check out the 'fishcam' in my signature to see it in real time. ;)
